A Poem: March Snowstorm in the City

“March Snowstorm in the City”

Clouds Splitting

Hurling, swirling snowflaked insults

Without pity

On this already injured city

Walking people walk on, talk on

Live on, give on

Arrive on time

Because they have to.

Enduring closed doors, disprespect, neglect

Carrying their groceries, their babies

Their burdens

Shuddering in the cold, muttering

Inaudible curses at the wind.

March 1999
