The Well Fall Institute: One Sacred Community, Co-Creating Our Future

There is no end to the process of making life meaningful.  We are always called upon to live our lives in communion with other beings, to participate in this world, to experience and create beauty, to love deeply and to feel compassion.  This is the pursuit of wisdom, the Great Work of humanity.  It is not really too different from the work of the quantum vacuum pulsing matter into being; or of matter coalescing into the star; or of the star giving birth to the elements of the living Earth; or of the Earth churning the elements into life; or of life co-creating the complex web of relations in the ecosystem; or of the African plain giving birth to the curious ape, who created worlds with the stories told beside the fire under the stars.  The legacy of this entire process remains with us, in the depths of the womb of the human soul, pregnant with the mysterious and unknown future.

Please join me at The Well on November 12 at 1:30.  See the flyer here: The Well Fall Institute

Happy Samhain

As part of The Well’s Fall Institute on November 11 and 12, I will be presenting on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

This will be a discussion of the underlying assumptions, myths, and values that comprise the cosmology of industrial capitalism and that have led us to the point of crisis. We will explore the notion of apocalypse, applying biblical apocalyptic tradition to the contemporary ecological collapse. Out of this crisis, we will look at ways to live our lives more deeply, more compassionately, embracing the fundamental paradoxes of existence—that is how we can be Earth and Creation centered mystics. Finally, we will embrace our role as artists and mythmakers, using the Universe Story as a template for a new myth to guide us toward a more just, sustainable, and compassionate culture. Special attention will be paid to how education can be transformed to serve this purpose.
COST: $100 (Friday ONLY $25; Saturday ONLY $80)
Overnight accommodations: $50
Space is limited.

The Chicago Wisdom Project Mandala

There will also be a brief presentation on The Chicago Wisdom Project. We will soon be launching our Wisdom Teacher Training Program.
